Around the World Travel Sign Using www.canva.com (the FREE version)
- You will be creating an original digital travel poster following the tips and guidelines that were given at school. However, you will not be working with a partner. You and your partner can both do the same destination that was chosen at school but your posters should be different. If you'd like to change your destination, email me ASAP with your top three choices.
- You may NOT use one of the pre-designed posters on Canva or simply make changes to a pre-designed poster. You must start your poster from "scratch".
- Create an account on www.canva.com using your school email. Write down your password!
- Watch the following video to become familiar with the Canva website:
Wed. April 8th
- Experiment on the Canva website
- Begin to look for a background and/or images you can use on your poster. Be sure to also check out the Pexels and Pixabay app links for even more free photos under "More" in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- If you can't find the image or images you want for your poster, try to find them online and download them to your computer.
- Read THIS to learn how to find and manage files downloaded to your Chromebook
- Look through the fonts and elements links to see what you may want to use for your poster.
- Come up with a general idea and plan for your poster. Sketch it out if this helps you to organize your thoughts.
Thurs. April 9th and Tues. April 14th (Spring break is April 10-13)
- Create your travel destination poster on the Canva website
- You may make it horizontal or vertical. The poster size can be set on the Home page under Custom Dimensions. A good vertical size is 12x18 cm and a good horizontal size is 18x12 cm.
- Remember the guidelines given in class. You must have large and small text, overlapping, a border, repetition of colors, good use of space, good contrast for your text color(s), etc.
- You need at least one image/illustration, but it doesn't need to be hand drawn now.
- Try to make your design as visually appealing, creative, and original as possible. NO drab and boring signs!
- Your sign is not officially due until Wed. April 22nd, but if you are finished you will turn it in for your assignment tomorrow.
Wed. April 15th
- If finished, download your finished poster to your computer or Chromebook by clicking on the down arrow in the upper right hand corner of your screen when your design is open on www.canva.com.
