JR. HIGH ART- 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade
length: one 9 weeks period class fee: none
The elements of art will be reviewed and the principles of design will be introduced in order to help students create more visually pleasing compositions in all kinds of artwork—realistic, abstract, and expressive. Through a variety of media, projects emphasize the importance of problem solving, creative thinking, and art skill development. Students also become familiar with several famous artists throughout the 9 weeks through a fun "Art Collector" group competition.
Students artwork will also be digitally uploaded with parents permission to a internet based art gallery called Artsonia (link above). Parents are asked to please register on Artsonia following the directions that are sent home. This registration only needs to be done once for the student's entire junior high and high school career. Each time an artwork is completed and added to the students digital art portfolio at school, parents will receive an email showing an image of the artwork. In addition, you can post positive comments about their work, join their fan club, and order unique items featuring your their artwork through Artsonia who then gives 20% back to our art department! How great is that?!
Students best pieces will also be saved from each 9 weeks class and featured in a junior high art show and district wide expo in the spring. Art awards will then be presented at the junior high awards assembly at the end of the school year.
